fantasy draft

Today was my fantasy draft on yahoo. I think I got a pretty good team out of it, but most people do feel good coming out of a live draft. Let me know what you think. I had the 7th pick in the draft.

1 Jimmy Rollins SS
2 Brandon Phillips 2B
3 Curtis Granderson OF
4 Cole Hamels SP
5 Joe Mauer C
6 Joe Nathan RP
7 Carlos Pena 1B
8 Ryan Zimmerman 3B
9 Chad Billingsley SP
10 Shane Victorino OF
11 Jason Isringhausen RP
12 Adrian Gonzalez 1B
13 Joakim Soria RP
14 Clay Buchholz SP
15 Eric Gagne RP
16 Jeremy Hermida OF
17 Yunel Escobar 2B, SS, 3B
18 Ryan Garko 1B
19 Tom Gorzelanny SP
20 Bengie Molina C
21 Jacque Jones OF
22 Bob Howry RP

Only thing I wish I wouldn't have done looking back is take Billingsley as high as I did. I kind of went with my heart and not my head there, and he probably would have been around in the 10th or 11th round. I do think he is going to have a great year though. Unfortuantely, all 3 of the potential Cubs closers were drafted, so if Howry doesn't win the job that's a wasted pick.

I think your best pick is Tom Gorzelanny in the 19th round.  That's a real steal!  Getting Adrian Gonzalez in the 12th is pretty good, too.  Overall it seems like a pretty solid team.  Your starting pitching is a little weak, especially since Buccholz might not begin the season in the starting rotation, but you make up for it a bit with a solid cast of relievers.

As for Howry, you could make the same argument for any of the other Cubs closer-hopefuls.  If you drafted Marmol and Woods somehow got the job, he's a wasted pick.  And the glory of your last pick is that if you mess up, just drop him and pick up the free agent that you wanted.  The guy you would've drafted instead is probably still available.

Is it a H2H or roto league?  Not that it matters that much - just curious.  Your SP is weak, I think, but your offense is decent, especially if it's a roto league.  You should do well in SBs, HRs, Rs, though some of your guys are more the leadoff hitters and not big RBI guys.  Keep an eye out for some young SPs who get off to a fast start that you can pick up on the waiver wire after the season starts - that will help.

H2H. I'm a worried about the starting pitching, especially since some of them aren't on teams that will win big. I expect Hamels and Billingsley to break out this year and win more than last year, but Buchholz(especially if he gets sent down) and Gorzelanny scare me a bit for wins.

Every time I was planning on picking a certain pitcher, he'd get drafted like 2 picks in front of me, and at that time there was no one else that looked good. But that's part of fantasy baseball. I'm pretty sure there are some solid starters available to pick up, so I'll have to go check them out.

The other thing that worries me, is that I took a lot of potential breakout players, or players that have had 1 good year but haven't followed it up. Zimmerman, Gonzalez, Billingsley, Hamels, Pena, Victorino. If these players all live up to the hype of last year or their possible breakout year, this could be a good team. If they all fall flat, I could have a lot of work in front of me to get the team decent.
